Description
In 2005, The Ministry of Interior in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tendered The Automated Traffic Violations Administering and Monitoring Project.
The goal was to deploy several Intelligent Transportation Systems technologies in major cities and provinces in Saudi Arabia.
ATVAM project was designed with several objectives taken into consideration:
- Improve traffic safety by means of deploying an automated system for the administration and monitoring of traffic violations.
- Enhance the capacity of existing road networks through improving traffic mobility.
- Augment general security by utilizing automated vehicle monitoring and recognition systems.
